Antique Italian Alabaster Bust Mother and Child Signed E. Fiaschi, Emilio Fiaschi Sculpture, 19th Century

$1,899.00

A tender antique Italian alabaster group of a young mother gazing adoringly at her child, carved in the late 19th century and signed on the reverse "E. Fiaschi" — Emilio Fiaschi (1858–1941) of Volterra and Florence. This exact mother-and-child model is documented at major auction houses, including Christie's.

The carving is wonderfully detailed: the mother's patterned bonnet and shawl, the delicate folds of drapery, and the child's serene upturned face are all rendered by hand in luminous natural alabaster with soft natural veining.

Condition: very good antique condition overall. Light surface soiling in the deeper crevices and minor wear consistent with age; the faces are intact and crisp. Please study all photos carefully — they are part of the description. The final two photos show a tape measure for scale. The bust is mounted on its wooden base, which is included; total height including the base is approximately 12-1/2 inches.

Shipping: this is a heavy, fragile stone sculpture. It will be professionally packed with generous cushioning (double-boxed). Free US shipping. Please allow 3–5 business days for careful packing before shipment.
